Graduate of the Early School Education and Speech Therapy at the University of Gdańsk, Pedagogy (complementary MA studies), and the English Language at the Foreign Language Teacher Training College of the University of Gdańsk.

I had planned on becoming an engineer after high school. I had no clue at the time that I would find my place elsewhere. I have been working at the American Elementary School for 12 years now. I look at the world through the eyes of Maria Łopatkowa, whose “pedagogy of the heart” filled me with awe. I believe that the prime goal of education is to develop a wise love of the world and its people. A teacher is someone who believes in children and supports them in finding their own path in life. A teacher is selfless and authentic, someone present with all of his or her heart.

How should we teach? Watch, notice, and respond to the surroundings with love. Education is the effect of joint creation of the teacher and the students, one learning from the other. What methods should we use? Any that develop naturally or those suggested to us by the students. And if any of them fail, you can always draw a picture to illustrate the point… or sing a song about it ;-)

I use my free time to sing, paint, ride a bike, canoe, and take long trips on foot.
