This Friday was the nineteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks in the United States.
As we have done every year since that date, we remembered those who lost their lives on that terrible day.
Ms. Kasia Pawłóczenko, the teacher advisor of our Student Council, organized a reading with the Council’s members. Maja Rogaczewska, Mati Mikołajczyk, Tomek Basir, Krzyś Lala, Marianna Skowronek, Tomek Bereżecki, Kuba Ziemiaszewski, and Szymon Głuchowski read a text to selected students. They were followed by Mr. John and the 8th graders who sang the song “If I Had a Hammer.” The message of the song was clear: If we want to make the world a better place, it is in our power to do it. We have the tools, and it is the responsibility of each and every one of us to use them to make a more just, a freer, and a more peaceful place. When we do this, terrorists and other evil-doers lose and we win.
The remembrance of the events of September 11 is an opportunity for us all to remember this.
IF I HAD A HAMMER (by Pete Seeger and Lee Hays)
If I had a hammer
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
If I had a bell
I'd ring it in the morning
I'd ring it in the evening
All over this land
I'd ring out danger
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
If I had a song
I'd sing it in the morning
I'd sing it in the evening
All over this land
I'd sing out danger
I'd sing out a warning
I'd sing out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
Well I got a hammer
And I got a bell
And I got a song to sing, all over this land
It's the hammer of Justice
It's the bell of Freedom
It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
It's the hammer of Justice
It's the bell of Freedom
It's the song about Love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
