LOGO COMPETITION to choose the VISUAL IDENTITY for the ERASMUS+ PROJECT Jeux sans frontiere (2018-2020). Free and Open to Everyone! Students, parents, teachers, community members! Take part!

The American Elementary School in Gdynia is participating in an Erasmus+ Project called “Jeux sans frontiere” with three other schools from UK, Italy and Spain. The project aims at educating our students on the causes of modern migration, the historical context and to really illustrate that we are not able to live in isolation from our neighbour.

CONTEST AIM: To find a logo that will be used as the project ‘identity’ (image) that will simply and directly refer to the key aspects of the project theme, such as:

– contemporary migration of people and animals,

– history and cultural heritage of Europe,

– the label that comes with their nationality is minor when compared to the reality of being a human.

The design must be suitable and adaptable for many forms of dissemination, such as, on paper, cards, posters, emails, websites, social media, banners, flags, t-shirts, etc.  By submitting work to the competition, the author agrees with its dissemination within the framework of the European Erasmus + program.

THE CONTEST IS IN 2 STAGES: The first phase is the selection of three ‘local’ finalists from each of the four counries. Selection will be by a ‘local’ jury.

For the second phase, all 12 finalists will be voted on by the project teams (a total of 24 students and 8 teachers from the four schools) when they meet in Majorka between 13 – 18 January 2018. The project team members will cast votes for all entries (1- 9 points )  but they may not vote for the finalists from their own country (similarly like in the Eurovision contest).

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE?: Students, teachers, staff members, parents or members of the wider community. Participants may EITHER work alone OR in groups or collaborative teams. Each participant/team may submit up to two original logo designs. Participation in this Logo Competition implies acceptance of all the competition rules and requirements.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA: The logo design should reflect the nature of the project and may include the following motto: “Jeux sans frontiere” or “If birds fly free”. Only those entries which conform with the competition rules will be eligible for selection.

JURY: The 5 Jury members will be selected from the School Board (1), the Student Council (1), parents of students (1), Erasmus+ Project (1 student and 1 teacher). Jury members are not permitted to enter the competition.

DESIGN REQUIREMENTS: The work must be original and unpublished and must not breach any existing copyrights. The art-design technique is the free choice of the participant. But keep in mind that the winning logo will be reproduced in many different media and materials. Entries may be submitted EITHER in digital form, OR on A4-sized paper.
