Our school was pleased to host Mr. Joss Buchanan, the principal of King William’s College on the Isle of Man. On Wednesday, October 10, Mr. Buchanan spoke with our 7th and 8th grade students about the College and about the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program the school offers.
Ms. Beata Oworuszko, whose son Bogdan graduated from the American school and is now enrolled in the IB Program at King William’s College, put us in contact with Mr. Buchanan, and she accompanied him on his visit. It was good to hear about Bogdan’s continued success, and we had a pleasant visit before the presentation. She’s rightly proud of her son’s accomplishments, as are we.
Like our school, King William’s College prides itself on its success in providing high-quality education, challenging and engaging curricular and extracurricular activities, and opportunities for students to better appreciate other cultures and become more internationally minded. In many ways, our schools and philosophies are very similar.
King William’s College seems to be an excellent educational institution. I know that the IB Program is a worthwhile and enriching program. The information our guest provided our students added to the options they have as they think about and begin to plan for the next steps in their educational careers. Whatever they choose, we’re confident that the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and values they have gotten at the American School will serve them in good stead. Good beginnings last a lifetime.
We appreciate the efforts that Ms. Oworuszko and Mr. Buchanan made for our young people.
